A message from the ESAIC President and Board of Directors:

After careful consideration and with deep regret the ESAIC and its Board of Directors have made the difficult decision to cancel our in-person portion of Euroanaesthesia. Thus, we will no longer hold our face-to-face portion of the congress in Munich, but you can still attend online 17-19 December.

The current situation in Germany – and specifically in Bavaria – is of utmost concern for us and has guided this difficult decision. As you, our community, are on the frontlines of the pandemic and affected most by the surge of hospitalisations and infection rates, it is our primary concern to keep our doctors and their patients safe and contained. We must make the best choices for our attendees, community at large, and those affected by COVID and follow the recommendations of the recent Robert-Koch-Institute messaging to avoid large events.

We truly believed, up until very recently, that we could successfully organise Euroanaesthesia as a hybrid event this year and did not anticipate how quickly and dramatically the situation would escalate as it has over the last few weeks. Having an in-person event is the wrong message to the public and to all healthcare professionals, especially those in the fields of anesthesiology, intensive care and emergency medicine, who continue to fight the pandemic.

As a medical society made of professionals sworn to protect, support and save lives, the ESAIC takes the dangers of the pandemic very seriously and considers ourselves responsible for the health and safety of our attendees, staff and the public.

Please know that while we cannot meet in person, we are still holding Euroanaesthesia online this year as originally planned. We will continue to present an outstanding programme that can be accessed easily and readily from the comfort of your own home or hospital. You can watch a session live or OnDemand for those sessions you may have missed or would like to review again.

We thank you for your continued support as we work through this difficult time together. It is our priority to ensure this is an easy transition for our community who had chosen to meet in person but who may now be faced with increasing duties towards their patients and local community.

We look forward to seeing you online 17-19 December and wish you and your loved ones the best of luck during these times.

What is the status of Euroanaesthesia 2021?

Euroanaesthesia will now be a full virtual event, meaning the congress can only be accessed online.

Due to the increasing health crisis in Bavaria and across Europe, the ESAIC has decided to follow the health and safety recommendations to cancel all large events. Our attendees and community come first and we must make the best decision for our healthcare community and their patients.

I was registered for EA21 in Munich. Now what?

Thank you for registering for the face-to-face portion of the congress and we are sorry this will not take place this year. Please note your onsite registration will automatically be cancelled and payment will be refunded to your original form of payment.
